What is 4Ps?
- 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) is the Philippines' conditional cash-transfer program managed by DSWD. It gives cash support to poor households to improve health, nutrition, and education outcomes.
Who gets help (eligibility)?
- Target: Poor households identified through DSWD's Listahanan (national targeting system). Priority households usually have:
- Pregnant women; and/or
- Children 0–18 years old enrolled in school.
- Selection is based on poverty surveys and validation - you typically cannot "buy" your way in; you must be identified or assessed.
Main benefits
- Regular cash grants for health and education conditions (e.g., health check-ups, child immunization, school attendance).
- Support for pregnant women (linkage to prenatal care).
- Program orientation and family development sessions (FDS) that help families access services.
Basic requirements
- Household must be included in DSWD/Listahanan targeting.
- Presence of eligible members (pregnant woman, children 0–18).
- Compliance with conditionalities: health visits, school attendance, participation in FDS.
Checklist: What to prepare (documents to bring when you go to your Municipal/City DSWD or CSWDO)
- Valid IDs for household head and members (government IDs, barangay ID).
- Birth certificate(s) or school records for children (PSA birth certificate, school enrollment or ID).
- Maternal health records or prenatal notes for pregnant women (if available).
- Proof of residence (barangay certification or utility bill if asked).
- Any documents showing household income or livelihood (if available). Note: Even without all documents, barangay or municipal staff can help you start the assessment - bring whatever you have.
How to apply - step-by-step
- Check Listahanan status
- Visit your barangay or the Municipal/City Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO/CSWDO) and ask if your household is listed in Listahanan or the current Pantawid database.
- Request assessment if not listed
- If your household is not listed, request a household assessment or referral. The barangay/MSWDO can schedule validation by DSWD staff.
- Undergo validation/assessment
- DSWD or partner enumerators will visit your home to verify living conditions and family composition.
- Wait for selection result
- DSWD publishes results; the MSWDO/Barangay will be informed if you qualify. DSWD will also call for orientation.
- Attend orientation and sign agreements
- Selected households attend orientation, sign the program conditions, and are enrolled.
- Comply with conditionalities to receive cash grants
- Bring kids to school, keep health check-ups/up-to-date immunizations, and attend FDS as required.
- Receive cash payments
- DSWD will announce payment schedules and release mechanisms (through partnered payment channels). Your MSWDO or DSWD field office will guide you.
Tips and local reminders
- Start at your barangay hall or MSWDO - they are the quickest local contact.
- Keep photocopies and a simple folder for all family documents.
